How far is Jeddah Airport from Makkah?
King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) is approximately 85 kilometers from the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) in Makkah. In normal traffic the drive takes about 60–75 minutes via the Makkah–Jeddah Expressway (Route 40). During Hajj, Ramadan and peak Umrah season expect 90–120 minutes.
Fare expectations
A pre-booked private sedan starts from around SAR 180. A family SUV (Toyota Innova / GMC) starts from around SAR 250. Luxury SUVs (GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Suburban) start from around SAR 400. Passenger vans (Hiace, up to 11 seats) start from around SAR 350. Metered airport taxis are usually more expensive and rarely help with luggage.
How to book before you land
